Africa is all about it's people!

With 1.58 billion people living in across the 56 African countries, Africa's people are at the forefront of what it can achieve. With almost 19% of the world's population living in Africa, taking care of it's communities and experiencing it's culture is of great importance for travel.

South Africa has had his years of civil troubles, yet, it is home to some of the richest and most joyous communities I have ever met. In and amongst these are the Zulu people, the largest ethnic group in South Africa. The Zulu community make up 22% of South Africa's population, and are a vibrant family-based community. I have been privileged to work with the Zulu community for the last six or so years and have experienced some of the most magical tones and sounds, when the young ladies start singing.

As I have been very inspired and enthused by the colourful and dynamic Zulu people, I had to formally acknowledge their cultural richness and name my company in their honour. Amahle, meaning 'beautiful' in isiZulu, is of great credit to the richness and beauty of the Zulu community. Forever grateful for these memories!

Sustainable travel

Responsible and ethical tourism is at the heart of all I do. My remit is to focus on creating a positive impact in relation to individual traveller behaviour by promoting the richness cultural immersion can bring.

Choosing environmentally friendly activities is essential when travelling with Green tourism underpinning all my projects. Whether it would be working with project providers who minimise their carbon footprint, live off solar or encourage local recycling projects, it is the right thing to do.

Giving back creates social richness and joy. Having supported many local communities across South Africa with sundries, education material and employment opportunities, I am grateful for being able to do so. All my programmes include an element of community involvement whether this be cultural immersion or cultural heritage, local adventure and community-based tourism.

Conscious tourism

As an experienced traveller, I am very mindful of the planning, preparation and implementation of travel and of the decisions we can and should take when travelling. Being conscious of what you are doing is the right thing to do and should be at the forefront of all you experience when travelling. Being able to enjoy your travels whilst knowing you have helped local people is the best way to get through life.

Amahle Africa's role in environmental sustainability, cultural respect and social responsibility will supersede any decisions of what travellers would initially like to do, after all it is the cultural richness that we seek to experience when we travel.

Not all 'holiday animals' are wild

One of the most important aspects of travel is to experience and learn about local customs and their use of animals. No where better can this be seen than in Egypt, with over 1 million working donkeys! Animals are amongst us and being able to appreciate their use on our travels is key to truly appreciating the local customs.

Globally, over 100 million working horses, donkeys and mules are used by 600 million people, who rely on them to feed their families and send their children to school. Being able to support animals like these equids is important. Giving back and giving a little more supports improving their health care and welfare.
