We offer an exceptional industry placement tailored to meet the needs of T-Level Animal Management students. Our programme focuses on providing practical, ethical, and safe experiences that contribute significantly to your academic and professional development.
Real-life learning
Gain practical, hands-on experience in the South African bush. Observe and interact with diverse wildlife in their natural habitats, applying classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. Working with all taxa, you will experience more than you can ever imagine!
Develop new skills
Enhance your T-Level placement profile with unique skills such as wildlife monitoring, habitat assessment, and ethical conservation practices. You will engage with animal management establishments, maintain enclosures whilst observing nature at its finest.
Fulfil placement hours
We can accommodate 84 hours of your 315 placement allocation during this immersive 12-day programme. We will manage all necessary paperwork, insurances, and health and safety and complete your placement reviews as required. The group size is 8 students max so you will be guaranteed an amazing experience.
Who is this programme for?
This industry placement is specifically designed for T-Level year 1 and 2 Animal Management learners seeking to meet their industry placement expectations. As highly experienced teaching and nature conservation staff, we ensure to guide and train students to complete placement tasks and activities, whilst offering an accurate and unbiased appraisal of the student’s performance.
If you are passionate about wildlife and keen to gain practical experience in a unique setting, this programme is for you.
Meeting your placement needs
We provide a comprehensive 12-day placement that fulfils 84 hours of your mandatory minimum 315 hours placement allocation. You can then add this programme as a 2nd placement carrying out your hours within a block release manner.
We aim to provide a substantive opportunity to apply classroom learning and gain insight into your chosen industry whilst you develop technical and employability skills. You will perform tasks that support their wider learning outcomes of your course with opportunities for progression into skilled employment.
We take care of all the necessary paperwork including setting your learner goals and helping you with your logbook. We will also sort the official information with your provider including insurances, and health and safety protocols, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience for you and your educational institution.

You will be guided by CATHSEETA qualified guides, and a qualified UK post-16 teacher with many years of experience in the bush. You are guaranteed an amazing experience whilst learning about nature conservation, ethical travel and the management of captive South African species within a breeding and rehabilitation setting.
Whilst also observing and monitoring common game including giraffe, zebra and kudu, you will also visit big-5 reserves to see buffalo, elephant, lion, rhino and maybe the ever elusive leopard. You will observe both on vehicle and on foot with qualified guides, offering a highly immersive and unforgettable experience.
Snakes? For your small team project?
As experienced academic staff, we take the importance of your learning very seriously and aim to ensure that whilst having an amazing time, you are fully immersed in the learning environment, albeit in the South African dirt and 'outdoor classroom'. There will be time daily for check-ins, completion of your log book and when needed, reviewing your learning, engagement and performance.
You will also be undergoing a small team project where in groups of 3-4, you will plan, execute and review, a project in the field. There will be a list available, but don't panic, you can decide on night 1 by the fire under the stars!
Ever wanted to work with herptiles, but you are finding that most projects do not accommodate this? As keen herpetologists, we pride ourselves in offering the unique and unexpected with visits to the Eswatini Antivenom Institute, ZuluCroc and uShaka Marine World included. It is truly inspiring to see these species in their own environment and to learn how incredibly diverse they are. Who knows you may even learn how to handle dangerous game?
So how much does it cost?
The programme has been designed exclusively for T-Level students with dates for 2nd years to coincide with the Easter break of your 2nd year and 1st years, during your 1st summer break.
The dates for the two trips are:
Group 1: Easter 27 - 26th Mar-9th Apr 27 (2nd year students)
Group 2: Summer 27 - 7th Jul-21st Jul 27 (1st year students)
The programme costs of £1,800 include all in-bound transport, accommodation, food & drink and activities. International flights are excluded, with participants under 18 required to travel with the main guide due to immigration and safety purposes.
